Plastic peacock is inspired by the Minton majolica peacock 1873, found in the Potteries Museum, and the 'Knife Angel' by Alfie Bradley, 2018, that was exhibited in Stoke-on-Trent earlier this year. Plastic Peacock is made from single use plastics used in the beauty industry to spread awareness and to encourage people to be more sustainable. Plastics used in the beauty industries rarely get recycled, end up in landfill and our water systems, which is extremely harmful to the environment, wildlife and to people. The peacock is a symbol of beauty and when made from false nails, false eyelashes, hair clips and carrier bags, is an interesting juxtaposition on perceived beauty and consequence.
